WHY INVEST?
January 6, 2008 on 1:37 pm | In Investing | No Comments- An amount of US$231,377 invested during 30 years, at 5% annual interest rate, will have a future value of one million dollars.
- If the return rate increases to 5 or 8%, the initial deposit will be reduced to US$99,377
- A US$99,377 deposit invested over a thirty year period, at 8% annual interest, will have a future value of a million dollars
- If you make regular deposits instead of investing a big amount , the sum of deposits will definitely decrease.
- US$15,051 deposited each year during 30 years, at 5% per year, has a future value of US$1 million.
- Earning a larger turnover reduces the annual deposit amounts.
- US$8,827 deposited each year during 30 consecutive years, at 8% annual interest rate, also has a future value of US$1 million.
- If you make monthly deposits instead of annual deposits the amount of each deposit will decrease more.
- US$1,202 deposited each month during 30 consecutive years, at 5% annual interest rate, will result in US$1 million.
- If you make weekly deposits instead of monthly ones the amounts will decrease even more
- US$276 deposited weekly during 30 consecutive years, at 5% annual interest rate will also result in US$1 million in the future.
- If the annual interest rate were increased from 5 to 8%, the weekly amount deposited would be the following:
- US$154 invested each week at an annual interest rate during 30 consecutive years would render a future amount of US$1 million.
- If we extend the investing period from 30 to 40 years and keep an annual interest rate of 8%, the weekly deposit would only be US$66.
- US$66 invested weekly, at 8% annual interest rate, during 40 consecutive years would be worth a million in the future.
- When longer the period, bigger the effects of recycling, which reduces the single initial amount or the diversified deposit amounts.
- While higher the turnover interest rate, higher will be the recycling effects, which reduces the initial amount or the diversified deposit amounts.
- While longer the period and higher the interest rate lower will be the single initial amount or the diversified deposit amounts.
How To Optimize Your Ad Link Units For More Profit
August 13, 2007 on 5:14 pm | In Google Adsense | No Comments Ad Link units from Google Adsense are ads that are meant to look like links. You will only make money from ad links if the visitor clicks on a link in the ad link unit and then clicks any link on the link page. So it’s a two-click system. Knowing this, the way to maximize your profit is to increase the number of clicks.
Tips On Increasing Your Profit
Blend The Color: you should try to match the color of the ads to the color of your website. For example, if your links are red, then make the ad links red (it is best if you use the traditional blue links for links though).
Do Not Use A Border: it is not effective to use a border for your ads. Keep the background and the border of your ads to the background of your page or the color of the space the ads are placed in. For example, if your page is black then the background and border should be black.
Blend The Ad: make the ad links seem like as if they are a part of the contents of the page. Usually, the best places to place these ads are along with the on-site navigational links.
Do Not Place Them Near Other Ads: you should try to avoid placing ad link units near any other ads. In general, you should always avoid placing too many ads in one place, it will make the page look very clustered and viewers may find it hard to read the content.
Use Ad Channels: always use ad channels to keep track of your ads. This will allow you to see where you are generating more clicks on from where. One easy way to manage channels is to have channels for every type of ad you have. For example: ads on the top of the page, ads on the bottom of the page, ads on the side, etc. You may also want to use channels for special pages, such as the homepage or any other page that you may receive a lot of visitors.
Change The Positions: try placing the ads in different places from time to time. Users may get used to having the ads in one place and they will just avoid it the next time. And you can find out in which position, the ads are clicked on the most and you can generate more revenue. So experiment with your ads and find the position and type that suites your site and visitors the most.
Increase Your Income By Going Borderless
August 13, 2007 on 5:14 pm | In Google Adsense | No CommentsWhat do you see when you read the newspaper? What do you see when you flip through the classifieds? I’ll tell you want you see, tones and tones of ads and it’s no different on the Internet.
When you look at the classified ads, what do they all have in common? A thick black border that encloses the ad. This is how ads look to the trained eye. Basically anything with a whole bunch of writing in it enclosed in a black border screams ad.
To increase your income by at least 100 to 200%, get ride of the borders on your ads. You do not want to have borders around the ads on your site. Visitors usually try to avoid clicking on ads so you should try to avoid making your ad look like an ad.
If you want to get ride of the borders, just replace the color of the ad border with the color of your page background. It is crucial that you replace the background color of the ad with that of your background too. For example, if your page has a black background. Make sure that the background and border of the Adsense ad is also back.
So go borderless and increase your profit by 100 to 200%.
How to Effectively Choose Your Ad Format
August 13, 2007 on 5:13 pm | In Google Adsense | No CommentsYou should familiarize yourself with the different kinds of formats available in Google Adsense. There are some that work very well and there are others that don’t do so well. But, no matter what you do, there are certain ads that you should try to avoid. For example, these may be the traditional ad formats along with the banner ads that scream to your visitor “AD HERE, DO NOT CLICK!” To see all the different formats that you are allowed to use for your ads, you may want to visit HERE.
Here’s a break down of the different formats and what they are good for from my experiences. But you should always try to experiment with the different kinds of ads to see which one will help you generate the most income.
Leaderboard (728 x 90) should be used at the top of the page if you want to use them.
Banner (468 x 60) should be avoided since they follow the traditional ad style. But if you do want to use them, you should use them in between text as a separator or such. Also, if you have styled your page so the content is 700-800px, use this one instead of the leaderboard either at the top or bottom. Usually it will do better at the top.
Half Banner (234×60) should be embed into the text. You may have to find your own way to use it to best fit your need.
Button (125×125) should be embed into the text or used like a skyscraper where you do not have enough room for a skyscraper.
Skyscraper (120×600) should be used on a side or blended with the text down a page.
Wide Skyscraper (160×600) should be used like a skyscraper where you may have more room.
Vertical Banner (120 x 240) should be used in the same way as a button.
Large Rectangle (336 x 280) should be embed into the text or place near content (on top or at the bottom).
The other squares and rectangles should also be used in the same way as the large rectangle. You may have to use different ones depending on the amount of space available. You should always try your best to blend the google adsense ads into the text so it looks like as if it is part of the content. In general, the large rectangle works the best (makes the most) and next to it is the medium rectangle. So the squares and rectangles include: Medium Rectangle (300 x 250), Square (250 x 250), Small Square (200 x 200) , Small Rectangle (180×150).
Should I Get Paid By Clicks or Impressions?
August 13, 2007 on 5:13 pm | In Google Adsense | No Comments If you’re deciding to get paid either by clicks or impressions, I have to suggest both. But it really depends on the type of website you operate. If your website receives more hits but you don’t receive as many clicks (assuming that you have tried pay-per-click), then go for pay-per-1000-impressions (CPM). If your website is content based and it is very easy to blend the ads in the content, then use pay-per-click (CTR). Just remember that you can always implement both on your website to benefit from Google Asense as best as you can.
If you don’t get many clicks but you do get a lot of visitors, then you should maybe strive to get paid by impressions. Websites that fall under this category includes galleries, forums, etc. Why? Because they are not keyword or content based meaning that the ads may be irrelevant. Also, the users may not want to click on ads because they are there for the community (in forums) and other enjoyment (images, etc.). On top of that, communities like galleries and forums get anywhere from thousands to millions of page views per day.
So if the ads pay you lets say $5 per 1000 views and you get around 20,000 views a day (some forums or communities might get even higher than that, so you will want to play it according to your site), that is $100/day of money in your pocket.
Now that is a pretty good amount of money. $100 per day may should little, but that’s $3,000 a month and $36,000 a year. But with communities, your visitors are bound to increase as time passes by, so the amount you make will increase day by day.
In the other case where your website is more content based, it is wiser to use clicks to generate money. Why? This is because they are easier to blend in, and people who come to your content-based sites are looking for information, so they will follow the information as long as the ads are relevant. In general pay-per-click will generate higher income.
The best solution of course is to implement both, but you should always test to see which one makes the most money for you. For example, on a forum, you may put the Image Ads in a place where it does not attract the user’s eye (you still get paid) and the click-based ads in a place where the user is more likely to click.
The only problem is that image ads are shown when they are the highest paying, so when you want to use image ads, make sure that you select image ads only and not the default when setting up your ads in Google Adsense. It is also wise to place the image ads first (at the top stop and not the bottom to make sure they pay more).
How Much Do I Get Paid Per Click?
August 13, 2007 on 5:12 pm | In Google Adsense | No CommentsThe amount you get paid when a visitor clicks on a link in your adsense units varies greatly. They vary anywhere from 1 cent to a dollar, a few dollars, and a few hundred (which is quite rare).
So you won’t really know until someone clicks on an ad and you see the results in your report. But what I do know is that, Google pays you more for the ads at the top. The first ad at the very top of the page is the ad that is paid the most. And then according to the amount paid, the ads are then filled in throughout the rest of the site with the top most ad paying the most and bottom last ad paying the least.
There is however a way in which you can check to see which keywords are being paid the most. So that means if you have those keywords on your page and if those ads are shown and somebody clicks on them, you can be paid a lot more than 1 cent or a dollar. But the only thing is that these keywords may not be what the content of your site is about. I do not recommend that you make a page or website to fit these keywords since they may not be your niche and the content would die.
High Paying Keywords For Your Adsense Ad
August 13, 2007 on 5:12 pm | In Google Adsense | No Comments As you know, some keywords pay more than others. There are websites that give us this information and this information may be used to help give you a higher income. Here’s a link to a website that has a list of the highest paying keywords for Adsense and I will explain further on how you can use this to your advantage.
One thing I should warn you about is, DO NOT, I repeat, do not try to make a website or page targeted towards the highest paying keywords when it is not your niche. The reason behind this is very simple, if it’s not something you know a lot about, unless your willing to learn and research and become a guru in that topic, then the content will suck. I’m sorry if I’m being straight forward towards you, but the content will be garbage. Sooner or later, your site will fail because no one wants to read about things that do not help him or her.
How To Use High Paying Keywords
What you would probably want to do is to check what are the highest paying keywords that are relevant to the contents of your page or site. It is crucial that you look for keywords that are relevant and not just random words that have no relations to your content what so ever. The site should be only used to help you choose keywords that can maximize your profit.
To implement this, all you have to do is place those keywords in the keywords section of your metatage. For example, if I have a website about getting making websites, then some of the keywords that I might try to implement may include: domain yahoo, domain name yahoo, domain registration yahoo, yahoo web hosting, etc., you get the point.
Keep Your Ads Above The Fold
You should always try to keep your Google Adsense ads above the fold. Above the fold is all the things that can be seen without scrolling down the page. Generally speaking, the ads that are above the fold will do better than those that are below the fold. So it is wise to stick atleast an Ad Link unit and an adsense ad above the fold.
Like whatever is said before, always make sure that your ads blend with the content of the site. On all my websites, I have noticed that the ads that are placed above the fold generate the most clicks. Few people scroll down the page and click on the ad at the very bottom. Another good thing about keeping the ads above the fold is that they will see the ad and click on it a relevant link if the content you have on your page does not suite what they are looking for.
As always, the disadvantage of that is the ads take away traffic from your site.
Less Options Above The Fold=More Clicks
August 13, 2007 on 5:11 pm | In Google Adsense | No Comments When there are less options above the fold and there are google adsense ads or adsense ad link units, it is more likely that users click on them.
When I was testing out Brains That Work before, I placed only one page on there with some ad link units at the very top. Those were basically the only valid links. I didn’t even advertise Brains That Work back then, and apparently there were these two visitors that day and they both click on the ad link units, giving me a income of around half a dollar. Though that may seem little, it is very good though since I am getting 100% click through rates since both visitors had clicked on the link.
So the general rule of thumb is to keep as little options above the fold as possible so the visitors will be more willing to click on the ads if they are relevant to what they are looking for.
Using Images To Attract The Eye
August 13, 2007 on 5:11 pm | In Google Adsense | No Comments If is more effective to use images to bring the visitor’s eyes toward the ads. No matter what you have heard before, all human beings are more attracted to images than words. So you can use this to your advantage. By placing an image beside your ad, it will bring more attention to the ads. You can also refer to this as tricking the eyes. If you have a website with lots of graphics, it is even more important to do this. But sometimes, it may be wise not to do this, and you need to find the appropriate pictures too. So you will need to figure it out on your own, whether or not you should use images to optimize your ads.
On one of my websites, I have implemented this technique. I used a table to place the images on the left and the ad on the right. After I implemented this technique, the clicks increased by a lot. I have a semi-graphics website so the ads weren’t being noticed. Because I used this technique, my profits went up.
So you should experiment and see if this would bring help to you or not. What I recommend is that you first use no images for a while, then use images for another while. After that, compare the data that you have collected through the channels (make sure you use channels to track your ads). In whichever one you were making more money on a daily basis, use that method for your ads.
Optimization For More Relevant Adsense Ads
August 13, 2007 on 5:10 pm | In Google Adsense | No CommentsThere are many things that you can do to help your site get more relevant ads. Why should you get relevant ads? Obviously you want visitors to click on your ads, and usually visitors will click on links that are related to what they are looking for. If they are on your website, then they must be looking for something similar to what you have on your site, so by having relevant ads, visitors are more prone to click on them. Therefore you generate more income.
Below are somethings that you can do to help make your Google Adsense ads more relevant to your site:
- The name of the directory plays an effect on the ads you get. So make sure the directory is relevant to the page.
- The name of the file should be related to the content of the file. You should consider using the title of the page as the name of the file.
- Headlines should always be used on your page to direct users to the information and to generate more relevant ads.
- Subheadings should also be used for the same purpose as headings.
- Keywords and keyword density also play a role. Make sure your keywords are related to your page and is what the ads should be similar to. Also, you should have a good keyword density for both search engine optimization and relevant ads.
- Section targeting for google adsense should be used throughout your site.
